Ever found an amazing Facebook Page you wanted to show your friends, followers, or community? Sharing a Page is a simple way to connect with other creators, recommend a brand you love, or provide valuable resources to your audience. This guide walks you through the exact steps for sharing a Facebook Page from any device and offers a few pro strategies to make your shares more impactful.

Why Share a Facebook Page in the First Place?

Hitting the share button is more than just passing along a link, it's a strategic move that can benefit your own brand and community. When you share a creator, brand, or resource's Page, you're not just posting content - you're building relationships and creating value.

Here are a few reasons why sharing Pages is a smart social media practice:

  • Builds Community & Goodwill: Sharing a complementary Page - like a local artist if you’re a local coffee shop - shows you’re invested in the community, not just self-promotion. It creates authentic connections and positions you as a helpful hub for your audience.
  • Networking and Collaboration: When you share another business's or creator’s Page, you get on their radar. It’s a digital handshake that can open the door to future collaborations, cross-promotions, or partnerships. They're likely to appreciate the shout-out and may even return the favor.
  • Provides Value to Your Audience: You can't be everything to everyone. Sharing a Page that offers expertise or services you don't is an easy way to give your followers valuable resources. If you're a fitness coach, sharing a nutritionist's Page gives your audience a helpful, related resource and strengthens their trust in your recommendations.
  • Adds Diverse Content to Your Feed: Your content calendar needs variety. Sharing other Pages diversifies your feed and stops it from feeling like an endless stream of your own content. It breaks up your regularly scheduled programming with helpful, relevant recommendations.

Think of it as social currency. Every time you share a valuable Page, you're making a deposit in your relationship with both your audience and the Page you're sharing.

How to Share a Facebook Page on a Desktop

Sharing from a computer is straightforward, offering you several options for where and how you share the Page. Let's walk through the steps for each method.

Sharing a Page to Your Feed, a Friend's Profile, or a Group

This is the most common way to share a Page. It creates a new post on your chosen timeline, allowing you to add your own commentary.

  1. Navigate to the Facebook Page you want to share.
  2. Just below the Page's cover photo, look for a row of buttons (like Liked, Following, etc.). Find the button with three dots (...) and click it.
  3. From the dropdown menu that appears, simply click Share.
  4. A "Share to your Feed" pop-up window will open. Here, you have several options:
    • Write your caption: Above the Page preview, there’s a text box that says "Share your thoughts about this Page...". Always add your own context here. Explain why you're sharing it and why your audience should care.
    • Choose where to share: At the top left of the pop-up, you’ll see the option "Share to your Feed." Click this to reveal a dropdown menu with other choices like "Share to a friend's profile," "Share to a Group," or "Share to Your Story."
    • Tag friends or check-in: Use the icons at the bottom of the pop-up to tag other people, add a feeling/activity, or a location.
  5. Once you've customized your post, click the blue Post button at the bottom.

Getting a Direct Link to the Page

Sometimes you don't want to create a whole new post. You just need the URL to paste into an email, a blog post, or another social media platform like X or LinkedIn.

  1. Go to the Facebook Page you want the link for.
  2. Click the three-dot (...) menu below the cover photo.
  3. At the very bottom of the dropdown menu, you'll see the Page's URL under Page Link. Click the Copy Link button next to it.
  4. The link is now copied to your clipboard, ready for you to paste wherever you need it.

Sharing a Page via Private Message

Want to recommend a Page to a single friend, client, or team member without a public post? You can send it directly through Messenger.

  1. Head to the Facebook Page you'd like to share.
  2. Click the three-dot (...) menu below the cover photo.
  3. Select Share from the dropdown menu.
  4. In the pop-up window, click the dropdown menu at the top where it says "Share to your Feed." Select Send in Messenger instead.
  5. A new window will appear. You can search for the person or group you want to send it to. Type their name and click Send. You can also add a message along with the share.

How to Share a Facebook Page on a Mobile Device (iOS & Android)

Sharing from the Facebook mobile app is just as easy, and the user interface is designed for quick taps. The process is nearly identical for both iPhone and Android users.

Sharing Directly From the App

This versatile method lets you share to your feed, in groups, via text message, and through other apps on your phone.

  1. Open the Facebook app and navigate to the Page you wish to share.
  2. Right below the Page’s name and profile picture, you'll see a small button with three dots (...) on the right side. Tap it.
  3. A menu will slide up from the bottom of your screen. Look for and tap the Share button (it often has an arrow icon).
  4. You now have a few options:
    • Share to Feed (Most Common): Tap this to create a post. Just like on desktop, you'll get a preview of the Page link and a space at the top to write your own post. Tell your audience why you're sharing this awesome Page! Once you’re ready, tap Post.
    • Send in Messenger: This lets you send the Page link directly to a friend or group chat in Messenger.
    • Share to a Group: This will let you choose one of your groups and create a post specifically for that community.

Copying the Link on Mobile

If you want to paste the link into another app like Instagram, WhatsApp, or your notes app, you just need to copy the Page's URL.

  1. From the Page you're on, tap the three-dot (...) button below the Page's name.
  2. In the menu that appears at the bottom, swipe down to the bottom where you'll see the Page Link section.
  3. Tap Copy Link. The URL is now on your phone’s clipboard.

Pro Tips for High-Impact Page Sharing

Knowing how to share is the first step. Knowing why and what to do next is what transforms a simple share into a powerful marketing strategy. Here are a few ways to level up your sharing game.

1. Always Add Context (The "Why")

Never - ever - just hit share. A shared link with no context is just noise on the timeline. Before you post, ask yourself: Why am I sharing this? Your caption should answer that question for your audience. A simple caption makes all the difference.

Instead of this: [Shared link to a bakery's Facebook Page]

Try this: “Shoutout to The Morning Bun! I stopped by their new Pineridge location this morning and their espresso is just as incredible as their pastries. If you haven't been yet, you're missing out on the best croissants in town. Go support a fantastic local business!”

This personal endorsement adds immense value and encourages your followers to actually go and check out the Page.

2. @Tag the Page in Your Caption

When you share a Page, a link preview automatically generates. That's good. But you should also @tag the Page directly in your own caption text. To do this, type the "@" symbol followed directly by the Page's name (e.g., @TheMorningBun). As you type, a menu will pop up allowing you to select the correct Page.

Why is this important? Because tagging sends a direct notification to the Page owner/admins. They’ll see your post, know you shouted them out, and are much more likely to engage with it (like, comment, or even share back). It’s the single most effective way to make sure your networking efforts get seen.

3. Use Stories for Quick, Authentic Mentions

Sharing a Page to your Facebook Story is a more casual, lower-stakes way to give a shout-out. Use the "Share to your Story" option and then get creative with the built-in Story tools. You can add a text overlay explaining why you love the Page, use a poll sticker ("Have you checked out this Page? Yes/No"), or even use a link sticker to re-emphasize the Page link. Stories feel personal and in-the-moment, making them great for authentic recommendations.

4. Check Group Rules Before Sharing

Sharing a relevant page into a Facebook Group can be incredibly effective, but you need to be careful. Many groups have strict rules against self-promotion or posting links. Before you share, read the group's rules. If it’s allowed, make sure your share adds value to the community. Frame it as a resource or a solution to a problem that group members often discuss. If you spam links, you'll likely get muted or removed.

Final Thoughts

Sharing a Facebook Page is a simple technical process, but approach it with a strategic mindset. Each share is an opportunity to provide value, build community, and network with other creators or brands in your space. Just remember to add your own voice and context to make it count.
