How to Find a Facebook Account Link

By Spencer Lanoue
October 31, 2025

Finding your Facebook account link is a straightforward task, but the steps can differ slightly depending on where you look and what device you’re using. This guide will walk you through exactly how to find the URL for your personal profile, a business page, or a group, whether you're on a computer or your phone. We’ll also cover how to create a custom, easy-to-remember link for your own profile to make sharing even simpler.

Why Your Facebook Link Matters

Before we get into the "how," let's quickly cover the "why." Your Facebook account link, or URL, is the unique web address that directs people straight to your profile, page, or group. It’s more than just a technical string of characters, it’s a direct gateway for people to connect with you or your brand. You might need it to:

  • Promote your profile or page: Add it to your email signature, business cards, website, or other social media bios (like your Instagram profile) so people can easily find and follow you.
  • Collaborate with others: When working with influencers or brands, they'll often ask for your direct link to tag or feature you correctly.
  • Streamline tools and apps: Many marketing and social media management tools require the direct URL to connect to your Facebook page or group for scheduling content and analyzing performance.
  • Share a profile or group: Quickly send a link to a friend to recommend a page, invite them to a group, or point out a specific person.

Having this link handy just makes online networking and marketing much more efficient.

Understanding Your Facebook URL: ID Numbers vs. Usernames

Not all Facebook links look the same, and understanding the difference can be helpful. You’ll generally see two main types of URLs:

  1. The Default (ID-Based) URL: When a profile is first created, Facebook assigns it a unique number. The URL often looks long and generic, something like this:
    https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001234567890
  2. The Custom (Username) URL: Facebook allows users and pages to set a unique username, which creates a clean, memorable link often called a "vanity URL." It looks like this:
    https://www.facebook.com/YourCustomUsername

This version is far better for marketing and sharing. It's clean, professional, and reflects your brand or personal identity. We’ll cover how to set your own custom URL later in this guide.

How to Find Your Own Facebook Profile Link

Let's start with the most common request: finding the link to your own personal profile.

On a Desktop Computer (Browser)

This is the quickest and easiest method. Your profile URL is always visible in your browser's address bar when you're viewing your profile.

  1. Open your web browser and go to Facebook.com.
  2. Click on your name and profile picture in the top-left corner of the homepage or in the top-right menu.
  3. Once your profile page loads, look at the address bar at the very top of your browser window.
  4. The URL displayed there is your official profile link. Simply click on it, right-click, and select "Copy" (or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+C on Windows, Cmd+C on Mac).

That's it! The link is now copied to your clipboard, ready to paste wherever you need it.

On the Facebook Mobile App (iPhone or Android)

The process on a mobile device is a little different because there's no address bar visible within the app for your own profile. Instead, you'll use the "Copy Link" feature.

  1. Open the Facebook app on your phone.
  2. Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines, often called the "hamburger menu") in the bottom-right (iPhone) or top-right (Android).
  3. Tap on your name at the top to go to your profile.
  4. Underneath your profile picture and name, tap the three-dot icon (...) next to "Edit Profile" or "Add to Story."
  5. This will open up your "Profile Settings" menu. At the bottom of this screen, you’ll see a section called "Your profile link."
  6. Tap the "Copy Link" button. A confirmation will pop up that the link has been copied to your clipboard.

You can now paste this link into a message, note, or any other application.

How to Find a Link to Someone Else’s Profile or a Business Page

Need to share a friend's profile or a brand's page? The steps are very similar to finding your own and are nearly identical for both personal profiles and business pages.

On a Desktop Computer

  1. Go to Facebook and use the search bar at the top to find the person or business page you're looking for.
  2. Click on their name in the search results to navigate to their profile or page.
  3. Once the page is loaded, look at the URL in your browser’s address bar. This is their direct link.
  4. Highlight the URL and copy it.

On the Facebook Mobile App

  1. Open the Facebook app and use the search icon to find the profile or page.
  2. Tap on their name to go to their page.
  3. Just like with your own profile, find the three-dot icon (...). On a person’s profile, it's usually below their name. On a business page, it's often located next to the "Like" and "Message" buttons.
  4. Tap the three-dot icon.
  5. Tap the "Copy Link" option at the bottom of the menu that appears.

How to Find a Facebook Group Link

Sharing a community you enjoy? Finding a group's link is just as easy.

  • On Desktop: Navigate to the Facebook Group. Once you're on the group's main page, the URL in your browser's address bar is the link you need. Simply copy it.
  • On Mobile: Go to the group in your Facebook app. Look for a "Share" button or an arrow icon, which is usually located in the top-right corner. Tap it, and you’ll see an option to "Copy Link."

Bonus Tip: How to Customize Your Personal Facebook URL

If your profile URL is still the long, number-based version, you can easily change it to a clean, custom username. This is highly recommended for branding yourself or your business.

Note: You can only change your username a limited number of times, so choose one you’ll be happy with for a while. It must also be unique.

Steps to Create Your Custom URL on Desktop:

  1. Go to www.facebook.com/username. This shortcut will take you directly to the correct settings page.
  2. Alternatively, you can navigate there manually: Click your profile picture in the top right, select "Settings & Privacy," then "Settings."
  3. In the left-hand menu, click on "See more in Accounts Center."
  4. Select the profile you want to edit.
  5. Click on "Username."
  6. Here, you can see your current username (if you have one) or set a new one. Enter your desired username in the field. Facebook will instantly check if it’s available.
  7. If the username is available, click "Done" to save it.

Your new Facebook URL will now be facebook.com/YourNewUsername. This looks much more professional on a resume or business card and is far easier for people to remember and type.
