How to Accept a TikTok Business Centre Invite

Received a TikTok Business Centre invite but aren't entirely sure what to do next? You're in the right place. Accepting the invitation is the first step toward collaborating with brands and agencies, but understanding exactly what you’re joining and troubleshooting any hiccups are just as important. This guide walks you through the entire process, from understanding user roles to a step-by-step tutorial on getting access and what to do if things go wrong.

What Exactly is a TikTok Business Centre Invite?

Think of the TikTok Business Centre as a central headquarters for a brand's or agency's marketing efforts on the platform. It's a dashboard where a team can manage all its TikTok-related assets in one place. When you get an invite, you're not just being asked to like a page, you're being granted access to a collaborative workspace.

Inside a Business Centre, admins can manage and share access to things like:

  • Ad Accounts: The engine for running paid campaigns on TikTok.
  • Pixels: Tracking codes installed on websites to measure ad performance and user behavior.
  • Audiences: Custom and lookalike audiences created for ad targeting.
  • TikTok Accounts: The business’s own TikTok profile.
  • Catalogs: Product feeds for e-commerce advertising.
  • Creative Assets: Approved videos and ad creatives for campaigns.

An invitation means someone wants you - whether you're a freelancer, an employee, or a partner agency - to have access to one or more of these assets so you can do your job without needing to share main login passwords, which is a huge security plus.

Before You Click 'Accept': Understanding Your Role

Not all invites are created equal. The permissions you receive determine what you can and can't do within the Business Centre. While the admin who invites you sets your initial permissions, it helps to understand the two main levels of access. Knowing this helps you confirm you have the right level of access to get your work done after you join.

Admin Access

This is the high-level, "keys to the kingdom" access. An Admin can do everything a Standard member can, plus:

  • Manage Users: Invite new members, remove existing members, and change their permission levels.
  • Manage Business Centre Settings: Change the Business Centre's name, add business verification documents, and handle billing information.
  • Control All Assets: Add, remove, and assign any Ad Account, Pixel, or other asset stored in the dashboard.
  • Claim Ad Accounts: Request ownership or access to ad accounts that are not yet part of the Business Centre.

You’ll typically only receive Admin access if you’re a business owner, a senior marketing manager, or the lead for a partner agency responsible for setting up and managing the entire structure.

Standard (Operator) Access

This is the most common role for team members, creators, and agency partners who need to work on specific tasks. A Standard member, also sometimes called an Operator, has permissions limited to the assets they have been specifically assigned by an Admin. For example, an Admin might grant you Standard access and then assign you to:

  • Run campaigns in a specific Ad Account.
  • View analytics for a brand's TikTok Shop.
  • Use a specific Pixel to track campaign conversions.
  • Access an Audience list for a targeting campaign.

With Standard access, you can’t invite other users, change billing details, or access assets you haven't been given permission to use. This protects the business by ensuring team members only have access to what they truly need.

How to Accept a TikTok Business Centre Invite: Your Step-by-Step Guide

Alright, now for the main event. Once you know what you’re getting into, following these steps will get you into the Business Centre in just a few minutes.

Step 1: Locate the Invitation Email

Everything starts with an email. Head to the inbox of the email address your partner or manager used for the invitation. The subject line will typically be something like, "Invitation to join [Business Name]'s Business Centre on TikTok."

If you don't see it, be sure to check your spam, junk, or promotional folders. Sometimes, these automated emails get filtered incorrectly.

Step 2: Click the Invitation Link

Inside the email, you'll find a brief message and a clear call-to-action button, usually labeled "Accept Invitation" or something similar. Click this button to begin the acceptance process. This link is unique and tied to your specific email address.

Step 3: Log In to Your TikTok Account

The link will open a new tab in your web browser, prompting you to log in to TikTok. You have a few options here:

  • Log in with an existing account: Use the TikTok account you want associated with this business work. Many professionals create a separate TikTok profile specifically for business purposes to keep it separate from their personal one.
  • Create a new account: If you don't have an appropriate TikTok profile, you can create one right from this screen.

Pro Tip: Log out of any personal TikTok accounts in the browser before you click the invitation link to avoid accidentally connecting the wrong profile.

Step 4: Review and Confirm Your Details

After you log in, TikTok will show you the name of the Business Centre you’re being invited to and the email it was sent to. You'll usually be asked to enter your name or a professional nickname. This is the name your colleagues will see beside your profile picture in the Business Centre's "Members" list, so use whatever makes sense for your team.

Step 5: Accept the Invitation

Finally, you’ll see a confirmation screen. It will show details about the Business Centre you're about to join. Simply click the "Accept" or "Confirm" button to finalize the process.

Step 6: You’re In! Exploring the Business Centre Dashboard

And that's it! You should now land on the TikTok Business Centre dashboard. From here, you’ll be able to see shared assets under the "Assets" tab on the left-hand navigation menu. If you don't see anything, don’t panic - that’s a common situation we’ll address in the troubleshooting section below.

What If You Didn’t Get an Email? Accepting an Invite via Link

Occasionally, an Admin might send you a direct invitation link instead of an email. This is common in chat apps like Slack or Teams. The process is almost identical to the email method, just with a different starting point.

  1. Click the invitation link shared with you.
  2. It will immediately open your browser and prompt you to log into TikTok (or create an account).
  3. Follow the same steps of confirming your details and accepting the invitation.

The main difference is you skip the email inbox part entirely. The simplicity of link-based invites makes them a popular method for quickly adding new members.

Troubleshooting Common Issues with TikTok Business Centre Invites

Technology isn’t always perfect. If you hit a roadblock while trying to accept your invitation, it’s likely one of these common issues.

Issue #1: "My invite link is expired or invalid."

The problem: For security reasons, invitation links don't last forever. They usually expire after a set period, like 30 days. If you're seeing an error message that your link is invalid, you've probably missed the window.

The fix: This is a simple one. Just contact the Admin of the Business Centre and ask them to resend a fresh invitation. They can do this in just a few clicks from their dashboard.

Issue #2: "I accepted the invite but don't see any Ad Accounts or Assets."

The problem: This is by far the most common cause of confusion. Accepting an invite only gets you into the Business Centre, it doesn't automatically give you permission to use anything inside it. It’s a two-step process: you join the Business Centre, and then an Admin assigns specific assets to your profile.

The fix: Let the Admin know you’ve successfully joined. Then, tell them which assets you need access to (e.g., "I need access to the Fall Campaign Ad Account and the Website Retargeting Pixel"). They will then have to go into the member settings and manually assign those permissions to you. As soon as they do, the assets will appear in your dashboard.

Issue #3: "I can't log in with my desired TikTok account."

The problem: Your browser might be automatically logging you into a personal TikTok account that you already use, instead of letting you choose the correct professional one. This can happen if you're frequently signed into TikTok in your browser.

The fix: Before clicking the invite link, try one of these solutions:

  • Open a new Incognito or Private window in your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari). These windows don’t store login sessions, so you’ll get a fresh login screen.
  • Manually go to TikTok.com and log out of any and all accounts. Then, clear your browser cache and cookies for good measure before trying the invite link again.

Issue #4: "The invitation was sent to the wrong email address."

The problem: Small typos happen. Your Admin might have mistakenly sent the invitation to 'jane.doe@gmal.com' instead of '@gmail.com'.

The fix: An Admin in the Business Centre needs to go to the "Members" section, find the pending invitation, and cancel it. Then, they can send a completely new invitation to your correct email address. The invalid invitation can't be edited - it must be removed and replaced.

Final Thoughts

Accepting a TikTok Business Centre invite is your entry point to organized, secure collaboration, whether you're working with a team or an external partner. The process is straightforward: just follow the link, log in with the correct TikTok account, and confirm your access. Remembering that assets must be manually assigned to you after you join will save you plenty of headaches.
