How to Find Your Link on Facebook

Knowing exactly how to find your link on Facebook is one of those simple skills that saves you a ton of time. Whether you're adding it to your email signature, printing it on a business card, or just sharing it with a friend, that direct link makes it easy for people to find you. This guide will show you precisely where to find the URL for your personal profile, business Page, group, a specific post, or an event, for both desktop and mobile.

What is a Facebook Link, and Why Does it Matter?

A Facebook link, or URL (Uniform Resource Locator), is the unique web address that leads directly to a specific piece of content on the platform. Think of it as a digital street address for your profile, page, or a particular post.

But why is it so important to have these links handy? Here are a few common situations where having the correct URL is a game-changer:

  • Marketing Materials: Adding your Facebook Page link to business cards, flyers, and email signatures gives potential customers a direct path to follow you and engage with your brand.
  • Cross-Promotion: You can share the link to your Facebook Page or Group on other social media platforms like Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), or LinkedIn to grow your community.
  • Website Integration: Placing a direct link in the header or footer of your website makes it effortless for site visitors to connect with you on social media.
  • Sharing Specific Content: Ever wanted to send a specific post, photo, or video to someone? Copying the direct link is far more effective than telling them to "go to my page and scroll down a bit."
  • Customer Support: Businesses often direct customers to a specific post with instructions or updates by sharing its direct URL.

Knowing how to quickly grab the right link eliminates friction and makes your digital communication much smoother.

How to Find Your Personal Facebook Profile URL

Your personal profile URL is the link someone would use to find you directly and send a friend request. There are two versions of this link: the username-based "vanity" URL (e.g., facebook.com/jane.doe) and the ID-based URL (e.g., facebook.com/profile.php?id=123456789). The vanity URL is much cleaner and easier to remember.

On a Desktop Computer:

  1. Navigate to Facebook.com and log in to your account.
  2. Click your name or profile picture in the top left or top right corner of the screen. This will take you to your personal profile page.
  3. Look at the address bar at the very top of your web browser. The URL displayed there is your direct profile link.
  4. Click inside the address bar, and the full text will be selected. You can now press Ctrl+C (on Windows) or Command+C (on a Mac) to copy it.

It's that simple! That link is ready to be pasted wherever you need it.

On a Mobile Device (iPhone or Android):

Finding the link on your phone requires a couple of taps, but it's just as straightforward.

  1. Open the Facebook app on your phone.
  2. Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines). On some versions, you might see your profile picture here.
  3. Tap on your name at the top to go to your profile.
  4. Below your name and profile picture, you will see an "Add to Story" button. Next to it, there will be a button with three dots (...). Tap that button.
  5. Near the bottom of the screen, you will see a section titled "Your profile link."
  6. Tap the "Copy link" button. The URL is now copied to your device's clipboard, ready to be pasted.

Pro Tip: Set a Custom Username (Vanity URL)

If your URL looks like facebook.com/profile.php?id=1234567890, it's not very professional or memorable. You can claim a custom username to make it much cleaner.

  • Go to your Facebook settings on a desktop.
  • Under "General Profile Settings," find the "Username" field.
  • Click "Edit" and set a username that is professional and easy to remember, like your first and last name or a consistent brand handle.

How to Get the Link for Your Facebook Business Page

A Facebook Business Page link is essential for all your marketing efforts. Thankfully, grabbing it is just as easy as finding your personal profile link.

On a Desktop Computer:

  1. Log in to Facebook and navigate to your Business Page. You can usually find it in the left-hand menu or by searching for it by name.
  2. Once you're on your Page's main feed, look at the URL in your browser's address bar.
  3. That's the link! Highlight it and copy it.

Keep in mind that the URL might look slightly different if you are currently in "business admin" mode versus viewing it as the public would. The core part of the URL (e.g., facebook.com/YourBusinessName) will be the same and will always work.

On a Mobile Device (iPhone or Android):

  1. Open the Facebook app and go to your Business Page. You may need to tap the menu icon and then "Pages" to see a list of pages you manage.
  2. Once you're on the Page, tap the three-dot menu icon (...), which is typically located near the top of the page under the page name.
  3. At the bottom of the menu screen, you'll see your Page's link.
  4. Tap "Copy link" to save it to your clipboard.

How to Get Your Facebook Group's URL

Sharing your Facebook Group link is a fantastic way to invite new members and build your community. The process is nearly identical to finding a Page link.

On a Desktop Computer:

  1. Go to the Facebook Group you want to share. You can find it in your left-hand sidebar under "Groups" or by searching for its name.
  2. Once you're inside the group, just copy the URL from your browser's address bar.

On a Mobile Device (iPhone or Android):

  1. Open the Facebook app and navigate to your group.
  2. At the top of the group's page, usually under the group name, you'll see a "Share" button or an icon with an arrow. Tap it. (On some versions, you might need to tap the icon with three dots again).
  3. From the options presented, select "Copy link."

One quick thing to note: If the group is private, people who click the link will be taken to the group's landing page, but they won't be able to see any of its content until they are approved as a member.

Sharing a Link to a Specific Facebook Post

Sometimes you don't need to share your entire profile or page, you just want to point someone to a single, specific post, photo, or video. This is incredibly useful for directing attention to an announcement or sharing user-generated content.

On a Desktop Computer:

This method is the most reliable and gives you the cleanest link.

  1. Find the post on your profile, page, or group.
  2. Click on the timestamp of the post. It will look like "5m," "2h," or "October 26 at 10:30 AM." It is usually located right under your name or the page name.
  3. This action will open the post on its own dedicated page.
  4. Now, simply copy the URL from your browser's address bar. This is the permanent, direct link to that single post, known as a "permalink."

Alternative Method: Most posts also have a three-dot menu (...) in the top right corner. Clicking this will reveal a dropdown menu, which includes an option to "Copy link."

On a Mobile Device (iPhone or Android):

  1. Find the post you want to share in the Facebook app.
  2. Below the post content (after the text, image, or video), you will see the "Like," "Comment," and "Share" buttons. Tap the "Share" button.
  3. A menu will appear from the bottom of the screen or overlay on the screen. Tap the "Copy link" option.

This copies the permalink for that specific post, which you can then paste into a text message, email, or another social media platform.

How to Find the URL for a Facebook Event

Promoting an event requires you to get the word out far and wide. The direct link is your most powerful tool for this.

On a Desktop Computer:

  1. Navigate to the event page. You might find this under the "Events" tab on a Facebook Page or from your own upcoming events.
  2. When you are on the main event page, the URL in your browser's address bar is the direct link.
  3. Highlight it and copy it to use in your promotional content.

On a Mobile Device (iPhone or Android):

  1. In the app, go to the page for the event you want to share.
  2. Look for a "Share" button, usually located right on the event page or accessed via a three-dot menu.
  3. Tapping "Share" will bring up several options. Choose "Copy link" to get the URL.
