How to Edit Scheduled Posts on LinkedIn

By Spencer Lanoue
November 11, 2025

You’ve crafted the perfect LinkedIn post, scheduled it to go live, and then it hits you - a typo, a broken link, or a last-minute update. Don’t panic, editing a scheduled post is straightforward once you know where to look. This guide will walk you through exactly how to find, edit, reschedule, or delete your content directly on LinkedIn. Plus, we’ll cover some smarter strategies for managing your content calendar without the headache.

Why You Might Need to Edit a Scheduled LinkedIn Post

First off, needing to edit a post that's already in the queue is completely normal. In the fast-moving world of social media, being able to adapt is a sign of a great content strategist, not a careless one. A post that was perfect on Monday might feel tone-deaf by Wednesday. Some of the most common reasons for making a change include:

  • Fixing a Dreaded Typo: It happens to the best of us. You read a post ten times, and only after scheduling it do you spot the glaring "form" instead of "from."
  • Updating Information: Maybe a link changed, an event time was updated, a product discount got tweaked, or you found a more relevant statistic to share.
  • Swapping Out the Creative: Perhaps you received an updated graphic from your design team, or you decided a different video would perform better.
  • Strategic Rescheduling: A major news story breaks in your industry, making your scheduled post irrelevant or insensitive. Or, you look at your analytics and realize a different time of day would get more eyeballs on your content.
  • Adding Mentions: You forgot to tag a key partner, contributor, or company in your post. Adding their handle can significantly increase the post's reach.

Whatever the reason, being able to act quickly and make changes is essential for maintaining your brand’s professionalism and relevance on the platform. Let's look at exactly how to do it.

How to Edit Posts Scheduled on a LinkedIn Company Page (Step-by-Step)

For most businesses and marketers, the LinkedIn Company Page is the primary hub for content. Thankfully, finding and editing your scheduled posts here is a fairly clean process. LinkedIn gives you a dedicated dashboard to see everything you have in the pipeline.

Here’s how to find and edit your content:

Step 1: Navigate to Your Company Page’s Content Tab

First, go to the LinkedIn Company Page you manage. On the left-hand navigation pane, you'll see several options. Click on Content. This will take you to your content dashboard, where you can switch between published posts and scheduled posts.

Step 2: Find Your Scheduled Posts

At the top of the content dashboard, you'll see a few tabs. The default view is usually "Published." Click on the Scheduled tab. This will display a list of all the posts you have queued to go live, arranged chronologically with the soonest posts at the top.

Step 3: Choose Your Action: Edit, Reschedule, or Delete

Find the post you want to adjust in the list. To the far right of the post preview, you'll see a three-dot menu (...). Clicking this will open a dropdown menu with several options:

  • Edit: Select this to change the text content, add or remove mentions, fix typos, or update hashtags.
  • Reschedule: If the content is perfect but the timing is wrong, this option allows you to pick a new date and time for the post to go live.
  • Delete: If the post is no longer needed, you can remove it from your schedule entirely.
  • Copy link to post: This copies a direct link, which is useful for sharing with a manager for approval before it goes live.

Simply select the action you need, make your changes in the pop-up window, and click Save or Schedule to confirm.

An Important Note: The Limits of LinkedIn’s Native Editor

While editing text and rescheduling are easy, LinkedIn’s native tool has one significant limitation: you often cannot change the media attached to a post.

If you've scheduled a post with an image, document (like a PDF), or video, the "Edit" function will only let you change the accompanying text. You won’t be able to swap out that old graphic for a new one. In this scenario, you have to take a different approach:

  1. Copy the existing text from your scheduled post.
  2. Click the three-dot menu (...) and select Delete to remove the post from your schedule.
  3. Create a new post, paste in the text you copied, and upload the correct image, video, or document.
  4. Schedule it for the desired time.

This workaround isn't difficult, but it's a clunky process that adds unnecessary steps, especially if you manage a busy content calendar. It’s one of the primary reasons many professionals rely on third-party management tools.

What About Editing Posts Scheduled from a Personal Profile?

LinkedIn has been slowly rolling out native scheduling for personal profiles, but the functionality can be less consistent than it is for Company Pages. Finding your scheduled personal posts can sometimes feel like a treasure hunt because there isn’t a dedicated "Content" dashboard like there is for company pages.

Usually, the most reliable way to find your personally scheduled posts is to:

  1. Click Start a post from your LinkedIn home feed, just as if you were creating a new one.
  2. In the post creation window, look for the small clock icon next to the “Post” button. This is the scheduling icon.
  3. Click the clock icon. You should see a link that says View all scheduled posts.
  4. This will open a list of your scheduled posts, where you'll find the similar three-dot menu (...) with options to edit, reschedule, or delete.

Again, the limitation on editing media applies here as well. If you need to change your photo or video, you’ll likely need to delete the post and start from scratch.

Going Beyond Simple Edits: Strategic Content Management

Knowing how to edit is only half the battle. Knowing when and why elevates your strategy from just posting content to truly managing a brand presence.

When to Reschedule vs. When to Delete

Sometimes, more than a simple text edit is needed. The key is to stay aware of what's happening in your industry and the world at large. Ask yourself:

  • Is this post still relevant? A major tech announcement from a competitor might make your scheduled product feature feel out of touch. Reschedule it for a few days later to let the news cycle die down.
  • Is the tone appropriate? In the face of a somber global event or industry-wide layoffs, your upbeat, sales-focused post might come across as insensitive. It’s often best to pause your scheduled content entirely or delete anything that feels jarring.
  • Did I get new data? Maybe your most recent report shows that your audience is most active on Thursday mornings, but you have a great post scheduled for Friday afternoon. Don’t let it underperform - reschedule it for an optimal time slot.

Looking at your scheduled posts as a flexible plan rather than a rigid, set-in-stone calendar allows you to be much more effective and responsive.

The Challenge of Managing a Full Calendar in LinkedIn

While the native scheduler on LinkedIn is a decent tool for a handful of posts, it starts to show its weaknesses when you're planning content weeks or months in advance. The default view is simply a list of upcoming posts. This makes it difficult to:

  • Spot content gaps at a glance. Can you easily see that you have nothing planned for next Tuesday? Or that you're posting two videos on the same day? With a list, that's tough to visualize.
  • Get a bird's-eye view of your content cadence. Are you posting consistently? Are your content pillars (e.g., educational, promotional, company culture) balanced throughout the month?
  • Quickly rearrange your strategy. If you decide to flip next week's content around, you have to manually reschedule each post one by one instead of just moving them visually.

A list is functional, but a visual calendar is strategic. This is where dedicated social media platforms offer a much cleaner and more intuitive experience, allowing you to see your entire strategy on one screen and make changes with a simple drag-and-drop.

Final Thoughts

Editing a scheduled LinkedIn post is a necessary skill for keeping your content accurate, timely, and professional. By familiarizing yourself with the steps on both Company Pages and personal profiles, you can confidently manage typos, update information, and adjust your posting schedule on the fly. Knowing the platform's limitations, especially around editing media, helps you plan ahead and avoid last-minute frustrations.

This workflow frustration is something we know well, which is why when we built Postbase, we focused on a visual, drag-and-drop calendar. Rescheduling a post isn't a tedious multi-step process, you literally just drag it to a new day or time. It’s a beautifully simple feature that saves our users countless clicks and headaches, giving them a clear, high-level view of their entire content plan so they can spend more time on what matters - creating.
