How to Check Facebook Page Monetization Status

Ready to find out if your Facebook Page can start making you money? Checking your monetization eligibility is the first official step, and thankfully, Meta makes the process pretty straightforward. This guide will walk you through exactly how to check your status, understand what it means, and give you a clear action plan for building a Page that's ready to earn.

What are Facebook's Monetization Policies? A Quick Primer

Before you check your status, it helps to know what Facebook is looking for. It’s not just about hitting follower or view counts, your Page must also comply with a specific set of rules. Think of these as the terms of service for making money on the platform. If you break them, monetization is off the table, no matter how big your audience is.

There are three main sets of rules to be aware of:

  • Community Standards: These are the basic rules for using Facebook. They cover things like hate speech, graphic violence, and misinformation. Any violation here is a serious red flag for monetization.
  • Partner Monetization Policies (PMP): These rules apply specifically to creators, publishers, and third-party providers on Facebook. They govern your Page’s overall behavior, including creating authentic content, sharing it with an established audience, and following payment terms. You must reside in an eligible country and have a consistent, authentic presence.
  • Content Monetization Policies (CMP): These are rules for the specific content you post. Videos with static images, slideshows of text, looped videos, and engagement bait (like asking for shares or likes directly) are all examples of content that can violate these policies and make you ineligible. The most famous policy here is the "Limited Originality of Content" (LDU/LOC) policy, which targets pages that reuse, repurpose, or aggregate content from other sources without adding significant value.

Understanding these policies is half the battle. Your page, your profiles, and every piece of content you post needs to align with them to successfully monetize and stay monetized.

Checking Your Eligibility: The Step-by-Step Guide

Facebook has been consolidating its creator tools into Meta Business Suite, which is now the primary place to manage your Page. While some might still have access to the old Creator Studio, the Business Suite is the best and most current method for checking your monetization status.

Using Meta Business Suite (The Recommended Way)

This is the most up-to-date method for accessing your monetization settings. If you manage a Facebook Page, you should already be familiar with Meta Business Suite.

  1. Log in to Meta Business Suite: Head to business.facebook.com and log in with the account connected to your Facebook Page.
  2. Navigate to 'Monetization': On the left-hand navigation menu, look for the 'Monetization' tab (it has a dollar sign icon). Click on it. If you don't see it immediately, you might need to click 'All tools' to find it.
  3. View Page Eligibility: In the Monetization overview, you'll see a panel summarizing your status. Look for a link or button that says “View Page eligibility” or something similar and click it.
  4. Select Your Page: If you manage multiple pages, use the dropdown menu at the top to select the one you want to check.

Here, the dashboard will give you a clear breakdown. You’ll see your Page’s overall status and a list of specific monetization tools, such as In-stream ads, Fan Subscriptions, and Stars. Next to each tool, you’ll find the specific criteria (like follower counts and minutes viewed) and a status bar showing your progress toward meeting them.

Using Creator Studio (The Classic Way)

Creator Studio is being phased out, but if your account still defaults to it, the process is very similar and will likely redirect you to Business Suite anyway.

  1. Go to Creator Studio: Navigate to business.facebook.com/creatorstudio.
  2. Select 'Monetization': Just like in Business Suite, find the 'Monetization' tab in the left-hand menu.
  3. Choose 'Policy Issues': This section will show you if your Page has any recent violations that might affect your ability to monetize.
  4. Check Eligibility: Click over to the 'Overview' tab within Monetization to see a breakdown of different programs and whether your Page meets the criteria for them, similar to the view in Meta Business Suite.

Understanding Your Monetization Status: What Does It All Mean?

Once you’ve found the dashboard, you’ll see your Page’s status presented with a color code. Here’s what each one means for you and your content.

🟢 Green: Congrats, You're Eligible!

A green status means your page complies with Facebook's Partner Monetization Policies and is eligible to monetize with at least one earning tool. You haven't triggered any major policy violations recently. However, this doesn't mean you automatically start earning money.

  • What to do next: Scroll down to the specific monetization tools (like In-Stream Ads for On-Demand). If you meet the criteria for a tool (e.g., 5,000 followers and 60,000 total minutes viewed), you'll see a "Set Up" button next to it. You will need to complete this setup process, which includes adding your tax information and bank details, to start earning from that specific tool.

🟡 Yellow: "At Risk" or "Limited Monetization"

A yellow status is a warning. It means your page is still earning money on existing monetized content, but its ability to earn future revenue is at risk due to policy violations. This is often caused by the dreaded "Limited Originality of Content" flag.

Common triggers for a yellow status include:

  • Using unoriginal content: Posting content you didn't create, especially videos aggregated from other pages or platforms without adding significant new commentary, edits, or value.
  • Reposting content across pages: Pushing the same video to multiple pages you own without customization can sometimes trigger this.
  • Minor Community Standards violations: Content that toes the line without being a serious violation can land you here.

What to do next: Act immediately. Go through your recently published content with a critical eye. Did you use copyrighted music? Did you post a video from someone else's TikTok? Delete any content that may have caused the flag. After a thorough cleanup, you can often request another review through the Monetization dashboard.

🔴 Red: Not Eligible for Monetization Policies

A red status means your Page cannot currently earn money from any monetization tools. This is the result of significant or repeated violations of the Partner and/or Content Monetization Policies. Your monetization features have been turned off.

Reasons for a red status can include:

  • More severe Community Standards violations.
  • Repeated intellectual property infringements.
  • Failing to fix the issues that led to a yellow/at-risk status.
  • Spammy or inauthentic behavior.

What to do next: Recovery from a red status is difficult and often requires time. Thoroughly read the policy violation details provided by Facebook. You must clean house and remove all offending content from your Page. After that, you'll generally have to wait for a period (often 90 days or more) while continuing to post original, policy-compliant content before you can appeal the decision.

Bonus Check: Don't Forget to Review Your Page Quality

Monetization status is just one piece of the puzzle. Page Quality is where you see violations against Facebook's fundamental Community Standards. A page with active quality violations cannot monetize.

To check it:

  1. Go to your Meta Business Suite.
  2. In the left menu, go to All Tools.
  3. Under 'Manage Page', click on Page Settings.
  4. In the new left menu that appears, select Page Quality.

This dashboard is simple. If it's green, you're good. If you see yellow or red warnings, it will detail the specific violations. You must resolve these issues before you can even think about monetizing.

What If You're Not Eligible Yet? Building a Monetization-Ready Page

If you check your status and find you haven't met the follower or view requirements yet, don't worry. This is the fun part - building your community and creating awesome content. Here's a strategy to get you on the right track.

  • Create Original Content: This is the absolute golden rule. Facebook wants to reward creators who bring unique and engaging content to the platform. Steer clear of just reposting viral videos or creating listicles with stock images. Film your own videos, develop your own formats, and let your unique personality shine through.
  • Focus on Watch Time: Total minutes viewed is the key metric for in-stream ads. To rack up those minutes, you need to hold people's attention. Start your videos with a strong hook, tell a compelling story, and always aim to provide clear value - whether it's entertaining, educational, or inspiring.
  • Go Live Regularly: Facebook Live is a powerful tool. Live videos generate high engagement, and the watch minutes from them count toward your eligibility. Host Q&,As, tutorials, behind-the-scenes tours, or event coverage.
  • Post Consistently: An algorithm loves consistency, and so does an audience. Creating and sticking to a content schedule keeps your audience engaged and signals to Facebook that you're an active, reliable creator. This regular flow of content is essential for accumulating the necessary watch time and growing your follower base.
  • Build a genuine community: Don't just post and ghost. Respond to comments, ask questions in your captions, and make your followers feel seen. An engaged community is more likely to watch your videos all the way through and share them, driving the growth you need to become monetization eligible.

Follow this blueprint, and you won't just hit the minimum requirements, you'll build a thriving, loyal community that makes monetization a sustainable part of your strategy.
