Uploading multiple images to a single Pinterest Pin right from your phone is a fantastic way to tell a richer story, but the feature on mobile isn't always obvious. Whether you want to create swipeable carousel Pins or upload several different Pins at once, it's all possible directly within the Pinterest app. This guide will walk you through exactly how to do both, step-by-step, so you can make your workflow faster and your content more engaging.
Before we get into the "how," let's quickly cover the "why." Pinning a single image is great, but using multiple images unlocks some serious advantages for creators, marketers, and brands.
When people talk about adding multiple images, they usually mean one of two things. It's important to know which one you're trying to accomplish:
The good news is that both methods start in the same place. Let’s walk through them both.
A carousel Pin is your best bet for walking your audience through a process or showcasing different facets of one idea. Here’s the straightforward, step-by-step process to create one on the Pinterest mobile app.
First things first, open the Pinterest app on your phone. At the bottom of the screen, you’ll see a navigation bar. Tap the plus sign (+) in the center. A menu will pop up with a few options like "Collage," "Pin," and "Board." Tap on Pin.
Pinterest will open your phone’s photo library. This is the simple-but-crucial part: just tap on all the images you want to include in your carousel. As you tap them, a numbered checkmark will appear on each one, indicating the order in which they’ll appear. You can select both photos and videos to mix and match within the same carousel.
Once you’ve selected all your media, tap the “Next” button, which usually appears in the top right corner.
Pro Tip: A blue dot over a photo means you’ve selected it. If you select one by accident, just tap it again to deselect it.
Now you'll land on an editor screen where you can see all your selected images at the bottom as small thumbnails. Here’s what you can do:
When you're happy with how everything looks, tap "Next."
This is the final screen where you package your Pin for success. Fill out all the necessary fields:
Once everything is filled out, tap the "Create" or "Publish" button. That's it! Your multi-image carousel Pin is now live.
This is the ultimate hack for efficient Pinners. If you’ve designed a batch of 10 different Pin graphics and want to upload them all quickly without doing them one by one, this process is for you. You'll turn each selected image into its own unique Pin in a single workflow.
Just like when creating a carousel Pin, you’ll start by tapping the plus sign (+) and then selecting Pin. From your camera roll, tap to select all of the images you want to turn into individual Pins. As before, you’ll see numbered checkmarks on each one. Tap "Next" when you’re done.
By default, Pinterest will group all your selected photos into a single carousel Pin. Here’s the magic step: you should see a button or option at the top or bottom of the editing screen that says “Create separate Pins.” Tap that button.
Boom! All of the image thumbnails at the bottom of your screen will now be treated as individual Pins. This is the fork in the road that separates this workflow from the carousel one.
Now, you can cycle through each Pin to add specific details. Tap on the first thumbnail at the bottom.
Once you’re done with the first Pin, tap the left or right arrows (next to “Details” and “Edit”) to move to the next image you selected. Repeat the process - adding a unique title, description, and link - for each Pin in your batch.
After you’ve added details to all your separate Pins, tap “Next.” Pinterest will ask you to choose a board for all the Pins you’re about to publish. In this workflow, all Pins in the batch must go to the same board.
Select your board, and then tap publish. Pinterest will upload them all in succession. In just a few minutes, you’ve created and published multiple pieces of fresh, optimized content to your account.
Mastering how to add multiple images on Pinterest - whether as a swipeable carousel or a batch of individual Pins - is a simple yet powerful way to make your content strategy more dynamic and your workflow infinitely more efficient. By telling richer visual stories and saving time on creation, you put yourself in a better position to grow on the platform.
