How to Stream Twitch on TikTok

Streaming your Twitch gameplay on TikTok is one of the most powerful ways to tap into a massive new audience and grow your community. By combining the deep engagement of your Twitch channel with TikTok's unparalleled discovery engine, you can attract viewers who would have never found you otherwise. This guide breaks down exactly how to simulcast your stream, optimize your content for a vertical screen, and engage with both audiences at once.

Why Stream on Twitch and TikTok Simultaneously?

Before getting into the technical setup, let's talk about the strategy. Why go through the trouble of streaming to two platforms at once? The answer lies in how each platform functions.

  • Twitch is for Your Community: Your Twitch channel is your home base. It’s where your loyal followers subscribe, use your emotes, and settle in for long-form viewing sessions. Growth here is steady but often slow, relying heavily on raids, collaborations, and getting lucky in a game's directory.
  • TikTok is for Discovery: TikTok's "For You Page" is arguably the most powerful content discovery algorithm ever created. Going live on TikTok puts you in front of countless potential fans who are just scrolling for entertainment. Your stream can appear as a full-screen, interactive preview of your personality and content, acting as a live ad for your entire brand.

By streaming to both, you serve your core community on Twitch while simultaneously casting a huge net for new viewers on TikTok. You can then direct that new TikTok traffic over to your Twitch, YouTube, or Discord, converting casual scrollers into dedicated fans.

The Essential Toolkit: What You'll Need

Getting this setup running requires a few key pieces of software and hardware. Chances are, you already have most of what you need.

Software Checklist:

  • OBS Studio: This free, open-source software is the gold standard for streaming. While other software like Streamlabs works, these instructions will focus on OBS Studio due to its flexibility and powerful plugins.
  • TikTok LIVE Studio: This is TikTok’s official desktop streaming software. You need access to this to get your unique stream key. Gaining access isn't automatic, you typically need to meet certain requirements, like having at least 1,000 followers and having gone live from your mobile device successfully in the past. These requirements can change, so always check your account's live access status in the TikTok app.
  • OBS Multiple RTMP Outputs Plugin: This free plugin is the simplest way to send a second, separate stream from OBS to another platform (like TikTok) without running two instances of the software.

Hardware Checklist:

  • A Capable PC: Simulcasting means your computer is encoding two video streams at once. This is more demanding than streaming to just one platform. A modern CPU with at least 6-8 cores is recommended.
  • Stable Internet Connection: Your upload speed is what matters most. You'll need enough bandwidth for both streams. A stable 10-15 Mbps upload speed is a good starting point (e.g., a 6,000 kbps stream for Twitch and a 4,000 kbps stream for TikTok).

Method 1: The Dual Output OBS Method (Recommended)

This method gives you complete control over what each audience sees, allowing you to create a custom vertical layout for TikTok while sending your standard 16:9 gaming scene to Twitch. It’s the most professional and engaging way to simulcast.

Step 1: Set Up an OBS Profile for Simulcasting

To keep things organized, create a dedicated profile in OBS that won't mess with your normal Twitch-only settings.

  1. In OBS, go to Profile >, New and name it "Simulcasting" or "Twitch + TikTok".
  2. Go to Scene Collection >, New and name it the same thing. This keeps your simulcasting layouts separate.

Step 2: Get Your TikTok Stream Key

You can't stream to TikTok without a stream key. This is found inside the TikTok LIVE Studio app.

  1. Download and install TikTok LIVE Studio on your PC.
  2. Log in with your TikTok account. If you meet the criteria, you should be granted access.
  3. Once inside, look for a streaming or broadcast setup section. You'll find a Server URL and a Stream Key. Keep these handy and do not share them with anyone.

Step 3: Install the Multiple RTMP Outputs Plugin

Close OBS first. Then, download the plugin from the OBS Project website and follow the installation instructions. Once installed, re-open OBS. You'll see a new "Multiple output" dockable window.

Step 4: Configure Your Twitch and TikTok Outputs

Your main OBS settings will be for your primary stream (Twitch). The plugin will handle the secondary stream (TikTok).

For Twitch (Main Settings):

  1. Go to File >, Settings >, Stream.
  2. Select "Twitch" as the service and connect your account. This is your standard setup.
  3. Go to the "Output" tab. Set the Output Mode to "Advanced".
  4. Under the "Streaming" tab, configure your Twitch stream. A bitrate of 6,000 kbps and the NVENC (if you have an NVIDIA card) or AMD VCE encoder are typical settings for a high-quality 1080p stream.

For TikTok (Plugin Settings):

  1. In the "Multiple output" window, click "Add new target".
  2. Name it "TikTok".
  3. Paste the Server URL from TikTok LIVE Studio into the "RTMP Server" field.
  4. Paste the Stream Key from TikTok LIVE Studio into the "RTMP Key" field.
  5. For Video Settings, choose "Get from OBS". We'll adjust the resolution in the next step. For Audio Settings, "Get from OBS" is fine.
  6. Click "OK."

Your streaming destinations are now configured. You can start your regular Twitch stream through the main "Start Streaming" button and your TikTok stream through the "Start" button inside the Multiple output window.

Step 5: Create a Vertical Scene for TikTok

This is the most important step for making an amazing TikTok stream. You absolutely cannot send your 16:9 horizontal gameplay to TikTok - it will be tiny and unwatchable. You need to design a dedicated vertical scene.

Updated Approach with OBS Vertical Plugin:

Modern versions of OBS have improved this process immensely. Many streamers now use Aitum's "Vertical" plugin for OBS Studio. It’s a game-changer.

  1. Install the Vertical plugin for OBS Studio.
  2. After installing, you'll see a new "Vertical" dock. In this dock, you have a separate vertical canvas (e.g., 1080x1920), a vertical scene creator, and a dedicated vertical "Start Recording/Replay Buffer" or routing options.
  3. Inside this plugin's scenes area, create a new scene called "TikTok LIVE."
  4. Now, add sources to this vertical scene. This is where your creativity comes in:
    • Large Facecam: Add your main webcam source. Make this the central element, filling the top half of the vertical canvas. TikTok viewers are there to see you.
    • Game Capture (Cropped): Add your Game Capture source. Don't show the whole screen. Crop it way down to just show the action or a key part of your HUD. Place this below your camera.
    • Chat Box or Interaction Source: Add a browser source for your Twitch chat or notifications, stylized for a vertical layout.
    • Call to Action: Add a text source or image that says "LIVE ON TWITCH!" with your Twitch username.

The key is to create a layout that feels native to TikTok: big visuals, personality-first, with the game as a secondary element.

Step 6: Go Live!

The moment of truth. Here is the order of operations.

  1. In OBS, click the main "Start Streaming" button. This sends your standard horizontal gameplay scene to Twitch.
  2. Open the "Multiple output" window you configured earlier. Select your "TikTok" target and click "Start." This sends your Vertical Scene to TikTok through the RTMP info.
  3. Congratulations! You are now live on both Twitch and TikTok, with a custom layout for each.

Method 2: Using a Restreaming Service

If the OBS plugin method feels too technical, you can use a third-party service like Restream.io or StreamYard. These platforms are designed to simplify simulcasting.

How it Works:

Instead of sending two streams from your PC, you send a single, high-quality stream from OBS to the restreaming service. Their servers then duplicate that stream and send it out to all the platforms you've connected, including Twitch and TikTok.

  • Pros: Reduces the load on your PC since you’re only encoding one stream. Offers a centralized dashboard to view chat from all platforms. Simpler setup process.
  • Cons: Often a paid service for full functionality (like streaming to TikTok). Can introduce a slight delay. Less control over individual layouts for each platform unless the service explicitly supports it. Watermarks may be included on free plans.

The Setup Process:

  1. Sign up for a restreaming service that supports "Custom RTMP" as a destination.
  2. Add your Twitch channel by logging into your account.
  3. Add a "Custom RTMP" destination. You'll use the server URL and stream key from TikTok LIVE Studio here.
  4. The service will give you a single URL and Stream Key for OBS. Go to OBS >, Settings >, Stream and enter this information.
  5. When you click "Start Streaming" in OBS, your feed will go live on both platforms.

Note: The vertical layout problem still exists here. For the best result, you still want to design a creator-focused vertical scene in OBS and send that to the restreaming service if you're targeting TikTok.

Pro Tips for a Successful Simulcast

Going live is just part of the battle. Success comes from engaging with both of your new audiences.

  • Acknowledge Your TikTok Audience: Your TikTok chat will be moving fast. You don’t need to read every message, but shouting out the platform is important. Periodically say things like, "Welcome to everyone coming in from TikTok! We're playing some Valorant over on Twitch right now - link is in the bio if you want the full experience." This makes them feel included and drives conversions.
  • Create A Call to Adventure: The goal of the TikTok LIVE stream is conversion. Give viewers a reason to leave TikTok and come to Twitch. "Hey TikTok, in five minutes I'm doing a huge giveaway for five gift subs over on my Twitch stream. Pop over and type !enter to join!"
  • Use Dual Chat Displays: Have a second monitor where you can keep your TikTok LIVE Studio chat visible. This helps tremendously in keeping up with questions or comments from that audience.
  • Embrace the Chaos: Juggling two chats, gameplay, and your own commentary is a skill. Don't worry if it's not perfect at first. Let your audience know you're streaming to both and they are usually very understanding and supportive as you get the hang of it. Enjoy the energy!

Final Thoughts

Streaming your Twitch content on TikTok is an incredible growth strategy that puts your personality and gameplay in front of a vast, untapped audience. By using OBS with a dedicated vertical scene, you can provide an engaging, native experience for TikTok viewers and seamlessly guide them back to your home base on Twitch.
