How to Post a Story on a Facebook Business Page

Posting Facebook Stories for your business page is one of the quickest ways to build a personal, authentic connection with your audience in the exact spot they’re already looking - the top of their feed. This guide provides a full walkthrough of how to post a Story, plus simple strategies for making them more engaging, professional, and effective at growing your brand.

More Than Just a Temporary Post: The Power of Facebook Stories

In a world of polished feed posts and calculated ad campaigns, Stories offer a raw, immediate way to connect. They disappear after 24 hours, creating a low-pressure environment for both you and your audience. But don't mistake their temporary nature for a lack of impact. For businesses, Stories are a surprisingly powerful tool.

Here’s why they’re worth your time:

  • They Humanize Your Brand: Stories are perfect for showing the people and processes behind your business. A quick behind-the-scenes video or an informal team introduction feels much more personal and trustworthy than a standard marketing post.
  • They Cut Through the Noise: Since Stories appear in a dedicated bar at the top of the Facebook app, they have prime digital real estate. This placement guarantees high visibility and helps you stand out from the endless scroll of the main news feed.
  • They Drive Real Engagement: Stories are built to be interactive. Features like polls, quizzes, Q&,A stickers, and emoji sliders invite your audience to participate, not just consume. This two-way communication builds a loyal community and gives you valuable feedback.
  • They Can Drive Traffic: For eligible pages, the link sticker is a direct channel to your website, blog, or product pages. It transforms a passive viewer into an active visitor, turning fleeting interest into tangible website traffic.

How to Post a Facebook Story on Your Business Page (Step-by-Step)

You can post a Story to your Business Page from either your mobile device - which is great for on-the-go moments and interactive features - or from your desktop via Meta Business Suite, which is ideal for scheduling and uploading pre-edited, high-quality content.

On a Mobile Device (Using the Facebook App)

Posting from your phone gives you access to the full suite of creative tools like polls, music, and interactive stickers in real time.

Step 1: Navigate to Your Page &, Start a Story

Open the Facebook app and make sure you are interacting as your Business Page. You can switch from your personal profile to your Business Page by tapping the menu icon (your profile picture) in the top-right corner. Once on your Page's feed, look for the "Create story" button with a plus (+) sign near your page's profile picture.

Step 2: Choose Your Media or Create in-App

Once you tap "Create story," you'll have several options:

  • Upload a Photo or Video: Your phone’s camera roll will open, allowing you to select a photo or video you’ve already taken.
  • Take a Photo or Video: Tap the camera icon to capture something in the moment.
  • Create a Text Story: Select the "Text" option to type a message on a colored background.
  • Create a Boomerang: Film a short, looping video, which is great for capturing small snippets of action.

Step 3: Edit and Enhance Your Story

This is where the magic happens. On the right side of the screen, you’ll see a menu of creative tools. Let's break them down:

  • Stickers: Tap the sticker icon (a smiley face page) to add interactive elements. This is the single most powerful tool for engagement. You'll find options for Polls, Q&,As, Music, GIFs, Quizzes, Location tags, Feelings, and more. The Link sticker can also be found here for eligible pages.
  • Text: Tap the "Aa" icon to add text. You can change the font style, color, background, and alignment to match your brand's aesthetic. Use this to add context or a call-to-action.
  • Draw: The scribble icon lets you draw directly on your Story with different brush styles and colors. Use it to highlight specific parts of your image or add a personal touch.
  • Effects: The wand icon opens a gallery of AR filters and effects that can make your visuals more striking or entertaining.

Step 4: Check Your Audience Settings &, Share

Before you publish, tap the "Privacy" or gear icon in the bottom left. For a Business Page, this should default to "Public," which is what you want. After confirming, simply tap the blue "Share" button and your Story will be live!

On a Desktop (Using Meta Business Suite)

Posting from a computer is perfect when you've already created polished graphics or videos and want the added benefit of scheduling your Stories ahead of time.

Step 1: Go to Meta Business Suite

Head to business.facebook.com and select the correct Business Account if you manage more than one. Meta is consolidating most page management functions here.

Step 2: Find the "Create Story" Option

On the main home screen of Business Suite, you’ll see a "Create Post" button. Click the downward arrow next to it, and select "Create story." Alternatively, you can go to the "Planner" or "Content" sections, where you'll also find a button to create content, including Stories.

Step 3: Upload Your Content

A window will pop up asking you to add your photo or video. Unlike mobile, you can't create content directly from your webcam. Click "Add media" and upload the file(s) from your computer. Meta recommends a vertical 9:16 aspect ratio.

Step 4: Customize Your Story

The desktop creative tools are more limited than mobile, but you can still make essential additions:

  • Crop &, Resize: Adjust your media to fit the vertical format.
  • Add Text: Add text with basic font and color options.
  • Add Stickers: You can add some simple stickers, but the popular interactive ones like Polls or Quizzes are generally unavailable on desktop. However, the critically important Link sticker is available here.

Because the interactive options are limited on desktop, it's best to use this method for visually compelling content that doesn't rely on audience participation stickers.

Step 5: Schedule or Publish Now

Here’s the biggest advantage of using desktop: the scheduling function. At the bottom of the pop-up window, you can choose to "Publish Now" or click the dropdown arrow to "Schedule." Set a future date and time for your Story to go live. This allows you to batch-create content and plan your Story strategy for days or even weeks in advance. Click "Schedule" and you're all set.

Beyond the Basics: Content Ideas to Make Your Stories Unskippable

Knowing how to post is only half the battle. Now you need to decide what to post. Here are some proven ideas that work for almost any business:

  • Behind-the-Scenes Peeks: Show the unpolished side of your brand. Film your team setting up for an event, packing an order, or brainstorming new ideas. This fosters transparency and trust.
  • User-Generated Content (UGC): Did a customer post an amazing photo with your product? Ask for their permission to reshare it in your Story and tag them. It’s authentic social proof and makes your customers feel valued.
  • Tutorials &, Quick Tips: Share a quick "how-to" related to your product or industry. A coffee shop could show how to make the perfect latte art, a software company could share a 15-second shortcut.
  • Polls to Gather Feedback: Use the poll sticker for quick market research. "Which new t-shirt color do you like better: A or B?" "What content should we create next week: Topic 1 or Topic 2?"
  • Q&,A Sessions: Use the "Ask me anything" sticker to let your followers get to know you. You can answer questions about your products, your company's mission, or your personal journey as a founder.
  • Promote New Feed Posts or Blogs: Don't let your beautifully crafted feed posts get lost. Create a Story that teases the new post ("New post is live!") and use a Link sticker to drive people directly to it or to your latest blog article.
  • Flash Sales &, Limited-Time Offers: The 24-hour nature of Stories creates organic urgency. Announce a “Story-only” discount code that’s valid until the Story expires.

Pro Tips for Leveling Up Your Facebook Story Game

Once you’ve mastered the basics, use these tactics to get even more out of your Stories.

Create Story Highlights

Story Highlights are curated collections of your past stories that you can save and pin to the top of your Facebook Page. They remain visible long after the original 24-hour window has closed. Use them to organize vital information your audience might be looking for, such as:

  • An "About Us" Highlight introducing your team and mission.
  • A "FAQ" Highlight answering the most common questions you get.
  • A "Testimonials" Highlight featuring screenshots of positive customer reviews.
  • Individual Highlights for each of your key products or services.

Use Cross-Platform Storytelling

If you're also active on Instagram, you can link your accounts to automatically share your Instagram Stories to your Facebook Page. This is a massive time-saver. You can enable this in Instagram by going to Settings &, Privacy >, Sharing and Remixes >, Share Story to Facebook. This ensures both your audiences get consistent content without extra effort.

Design for a Vertical, Sound-Off Experience

Always remember the context: most users will be watching on a phone, holding it vertically, and very likely with the sound off. Keep your most important visuals centered, and always use on-screen text or captions to communicate your message without relying on audio.

Check Your Insights

Meta Business Suite gives you access to basic analytics for your Stories. Pay attention to metrics like reach (unique viewers) and forward taps. A high number of forward taps or exits on a particular Story slide may indicate that your content wasn't engaging enough, providing valuable feedback for your next post.
