How to Link to a Facebook Page

Linking directly to your Facebook Page should be straightforward, but doing it correctly makes a real difference in how easily people can find and follow your brand. More than just a simple URL, a well-placed link is a bridge that connects your website, emails, and other social profiles directly to your Facebook community. This guide will walk you through every step, from finding your unique Page URL to strategically sharing it everywhere that matters.

Why Proper Linking to Your Facebook Page Matters

Before jumping into the "how," it's helpful to understand the "why." A proper link to your Facebook Page isn't just a technical detail, it's a core part of your online marketing strategy. Sharing your link effectively helps you:

  • Drive Traffic and Grow Your Audience: Your website visitors, email subscribers, and followers on other platforms might not even know your Facebook Page exists. A visible link is a direct invitation for them to connect with you there.
  • Build Social Proof and Credibility: When potential customers see an active, engaged Facebook community, it builds trust. Linking to your page allows them to see reviews, user-generated content, testimonials, and active discussions that prove your brand is legitimate and valued.
  • Create Another Channel for Customer Support: Many customers prefer to ask questions or give feedback through Facebook Messenger or by commenting on posts. Easy access to your Page gives them a comfortable way to get in touch.
  • Boost Your Reach: By connecting your different online presences, you create a cohesive brand ecosystem. A customer who discovers you on Instagram can easily find you on Facebook, where they might see different types of content, like events or longer video tutorials.

First Things First: How to Find Your Facebook Page URL

The first step is grabbing the correct URL for your Facebook Page. The link looks slightly different depending on if you’ve set a custom username or not, but finding it is simple in either case.

On a Desktop Browser

This is the most reliable way to get your Page's official URL.

  1. Log into your Facebook account that has administrative access to the Page.
  2. In the menu on the left, click on "Pages," and select the Page you want to link to. Alternatively, search for your page name in the search bar.
  3. Once you're on your Page, look at the address bar at the top of your browser (where you'd type a web address).
  4. The URL in the address bar is the link to your Page. You can highlight it, right-click, and select "Copy."

Your URL will look like one of two things:

  • A Custom (Vanity) URL: https://www.facebook.com/YourBrandName
  • A Default URL: https://www.facebook.com/Your-Brand-Name-1234567890123

If your URL has a long string of numbers at the end, don't worry. We'll cover how to clean that up in the next section.

On the Facebook Mobile App

If you're on the go, you can just as easily grab your link from your phone.

  1. Open the Facebook app and navigate to your Page.
  2. Just below your Page's name and profile picture, look for an options menu. This is often represented by three dots (...) on the right side. Tap it.
  3. At the very bottom of the menu, you'll see a section called "Your Page Link" with the URL displayed.
  4. Tap the "Copy Link" button to save the URL to your phone's clipboard.

How to Create a Clean, Custom Facebook URL (Vanity URL)

A URL like facebook.com/MyAwesomeBakery is far more professional and memorable than one filled with random numbers. This custom, easy-to-read link is called a "vanity URL" or a Page "username." Setting one up is a small change with a big impact on your branding.

Here’s how to set (or change) your Page's username:

  1. Navigate to your Facebook Page on a desktop computer.
  2. In the left-hand menu under "Manage Page," click on "Settings."
  3. You'll land on the "General Page Settings" screen. The second option down is "Username." Click the "Edit" link next to it.
  4. A box will pop up where you can type your desired username. Your username must be at least five characters long and can only contain alphanumeric characters (A-Z, 0-9) and periods.
  5. As you type, Facebook will check if the username is available. If it's taken, you'll have to try a different variation. When you find one that's available, you'll see a green checkmark.
  6. Click "Save Changes" to claim your new username.

Your new, clean URL will now be https://www.facebook.com/yournewusername. Keep in mind that for brand new Pages, Facebook may require you to have around 25 Likes before you can set a username to prevent spam.

The Right Way to Link: Understanding Different Link Formats

Once you have your clean URL, how you share it matters. Instead of just pasting a raw link, using a more polished format makes your content look better and gives users context.

1. The Simple Hyperlink

This is the most common method, used on websites, in blogs, and in emails. Instead of showing the full URL, you make a piece of text clickable. This text is called "anchor text."

Good anchor text is descriptive. For example, instead of writing "Click here," use text like:

  • "Join our Facebook community for exclusive updates."
  • "Follow us on Facebook for behind-the-scenes content."
  • "Check out our reviews on our Facebook Page."

Here's the basic HTML for creating a hyperlink. Most website editors and email tools have a simple "link" button that does this for you.

<,a href="https://www.facebook.com/YourBrandName">,Follow us on Facebook<,/a>,

For extra credit, add `target="_blank" rel="noopener"` to the tag. This tells the browser to open your Facebook Page in a new tab, so visitors don't navigate away from your website.

<,a href="https://www.facebook.com/YourBrandName" target="_blank" rel="noopener">,Find us on Facebook<,/a>,

2. Using a Social Media Icon

On a website footer, in an email signature, or on a contact page, using a familiar Facebook icon is a clean and universally understood way to link to your Page.

The concept is the same as a hyperlink, but instead of text, the clickable element is an image of the Facebook logo.

<,a href="https://www.facebook.com/YourBrandName" target="_blank" rel="noopener">,
<,img src="/images/facebook-logo.png" alt="Our Facebook Page">,
<,/a>,

Most website builders like Squarespace, Wix, or WordPress have built-in social icon modules that make this incredibly simple. You just paste your Page URL into a field, and it handles the rest.

3. Tagging a Page in a Facebook Post or Comment

When you're writing a post or comment directly on Facebook, you can create a link to another Page by "tagging" it. This creates a clickable blue link within your text and sends a notification to the Page you tagged.

  • Type the "@" symbol.
  • Immediately start typing the name of the Page you want to tag (e.g., @YourBrandName).
  • A dropdown menu will appear with suggestions. Click the correct Page from the list.
  • The name will turn into a blue, clickable link in your post.

Tagging is great for collaborations, shouting out partners, customer testimonials, or directing a user to a relevant Page for more information.

Strategic Places to Share Your Facebook Page Link

Knowing how to link is only half the battle. Knowing where to put your link is what gets you results. Add your Facebook Page link to all of these key locations:

  • Your Website Header or Footer: This is prime real estate. Visitors expect to find social links here, making it one of the most effective placements.
  • Your Email Signature: Every email you send is a marketing opportunity. Adding a simple, icon-based link to your Facebook Page in your signature keeps your brand visible in every interaction.
  • Other Social Media Profiles: Your "link in bio" on Instagram and TikTok, or the "website" field on X (formerly Twitter) and LinkedIn, should either go to your main website or a link hub page that includes a button for your Facebook profile. Cross-promote everywhere.
  • Email Newsletters: Regularly include a call to action in your newsletters inviting subscribers to join a discussion or see exclusive content on your Facebook Page.
  • YouTube Channel and Videos: Add your Facebook URL to your channel's "About" page, and drop it in the description of every video you upload. Mention it verbally in your videos for even better results.
  • Physical Marketing Materials: For business cards, store signage, flyers, or event banners, use a URL shortener (like Bitly) to create a simple link or, even better, generate a QR code that sends people directly to your Facebook Page when scanned with their phone.

Common Mistakes When Linking to a Facebook Page (And How to Fix Them)

Even with the best intentions, a few common slip-ups can send potential followers to the wrong place - or nowhere at all.

  • Mistake #1: Linking to Your Personal Profile. This is the most frequent error. For business, you should always direct people to your public Facebook Page, not your personal Profile. Profiles have friend limits and are meant for personal connections, whereas Pages are designed for brands, public figures, and organizations. Double-check that your URL includes `/pages/` or your chosen username, not the numbers associated with your personal account.
  • Mistake #2: Using a Broken or Typo-Filled URL. Always test your link after placing it. A single typo can lead to a "page not found" error, frustrating potential followers and hurting your brand's credibility. Copy and paste the URL from your Page directly to avoid mistakes.
  • Mistake #3: Not Having a Custom URL. A link with a long string of numbers is hard to remember, looks messy on marketing materials, and feels less professional. Take the two minutes to set your custom username, it makes a huge difference.
