How to Get TTS on TikTok Live

By Spencer Lanoue
November 11, 2025

Making your TikTok Live more interactive is a brilliant way to build a stronger community, and using text-to-speech to read viewer comments is one of the best ways to do it. This guide breaks down exactly how to set up text-to-speech, allowing a robotic voice to read your chat aloud so you can engage with your viewers without ever taking your eyes off your screen.

What is TTS on TikTok Live and Why Is It So Effective?

Text-to-speech on TikTok Live is a feature driven by third-party software that automatically reads viewer comments aloud during your livestream. Instead of you squinting at your phone to read a fast-scrolling chat, a synthesized voice instantly turns those text comments into audible audio for both you and your audience to hear. It effectively turns your comment section into an interactive voice chat, making everyone feel more included.

For creators, especially gamers, artists, musicians, or anyone focused on an activity, TTS is a game-changer. It bridges the gap between focusing on your content and engaging with your audience.

The Real Benefits of Using a Comment Reader

  • Uninterrupted Engagement: Ever missed a great question while you were in the middle of a delicate painting stroke or a clutch gaming moment? TTS lets you hear comments in real-time, so you can respond naturally without breaking your creative flow. You can keep your eyes on the action and your ears on the community.
  • Deeper Viewer Connection: When a viewer hears their own comment read out loud, it validates their participation. It's an immediate signal that they've been seen and heard, creating a positive feedback loop that encourages more people to chat and participate. This makes your stream feel less like a broadcast and more like a hangout.
  • A More Dynamic Stream: A silent stream can feel a bit flat. The constant chatter from the TTS bot adds an energetic, dynamic layer to your broadcast. It fills potential quiet moments and keeps the energy levels high, which can lead to longer watch times and more followers.
  • Improved Accessibility: TTS also makes your stream more accessible for viewers who may have visual impairments. They can follow the chat and participate in the conversation without needing to read the comments, making your content more inclusive for a wider audience.

The Catch: TikTok Doesn’t Have a Native TTS Tool for LIVE

Here's the first thing you need to know: TikTok has a built-in text-to-speech feature for creating pre-recorded videos, but it does not have a native function that reads comments aloud during a livestream. If you've been digging through the TikTok LIVE settings looking for a toggle switch, you can stop now - it isn't there.

But don't worry, that's not the end of the story. The vibrant community of streamers has developed incredible solutions. To get TTS on your stream, you will need to use a combination of a computer, free streaming software, and a third-party service that connects to your TikTok account. It might sound complicated, but it's simpler than you think once you see the steps laid out.

The Winning Combo: How to Add TTS with Third-Party Software

The standard setup for most streamers serious about quality and engagement involves streaming from a desktop or laptop computer. This setup gives you far more control and unlocks the ability to use powerful tools like OBS Studio and web-based TikTok LIVE integrations.

Here’s the basic workflow:

  1. Your TikTok Account: You need to have LIVE access and the ability to get your stream key.
  2. PC or Mac: The processing hub for your stream.
  3. Streaming Software (e.g., OBS Studio): A free and powerful program that takes your camera, microphone, and gameplay footage and sends it to TikTok.
  4. TTS Service (e.g., TikFinity): A web-based tool that connects to your TikTok Live, reads your comments, and generates the audio you need.

These tools work together seamlessly. Your comment comes into TikTok, the TTS service grabs it, turns it into audio, and feeds that audio into your streaming software (OBS), which then sends it live to your audience. Let's build this setup from the ground up.

Step-by-Step Guide: Setting Up TTS for Your TikTok Live

For this tutorial, we will focus on using OBS Studio (a free, open-source industry standard) and TikFinity, one of the most popular and user-friendly web platforms for adding interactive elements to TikTok streams. The principles remain similar for other tools like Streamlabs or other TikTok services.

Step 1: Gather Your Tools and Get Your Stream Key

Before doing anything else, make sure you have everything ready to go.

  • Download OBS Studio: If you don’t already have it, go to the official OBS Project website and download the version for your computer (Windows, Mac, or Linux). It’s completely free.
  • Get your TikTok Stream Key: To send a stream from your computer to TikTok, you need a unique key. You can't get this from the mobile app.
    1. Go to TikTok.com on your computer's web browser.
    2. Click the "Go LIVE" button at the top.
    3. This will take you to the LIVE Center. On this page, you'll see your Server URL and Stream Key. Don't share your stream key with anyone! Keep this tab open.

Step 2: Connect OBS to Your TikTok Account

Now, let's tell OBS where to send your video feed.

  1. Open OBS Studio.
  2. Go to File >,, Settings (or OBS >,, Preferences on Mac).
  3. Click on the Stream tab.
  4. For the "Service" dropdown, choose "Custom...".
  5. Copy the Server URL from your TikTok LIVE Center page and paste it into the "Server" field in OBS.
  6. Copy the Stream Key from TikTok and paste it into the "Stream Key" field in OBS.
  7. Click "Apply" and then "OK."

OBS is now ready to stream to your TikTok account. At this stage, you would normally add your content sources, like your webcam, microphone, or screen capture (for gaming), but we'll focus on the TTS audio first.

Step 3: A Quick Look at TikFinity to Configure TTS

TikFinity is the brains of our TTS operation. It will connect to your account, watch for comments, and create the synthesized speech. Their setup wizard simplifies the connection process for first-time use, but the core settings are easily accessible even for experienced streamers.

  1. Open a new browser tab and go to the TikFinity website. Sign in using your TikTok account. This is a secure process that allows the service to read your stream’s public data (like comments and gifts). You don't grant it permissions over your account.
  2. Your primary focus will be on their system that manages events or actions within your stream. It typically uses pre-made setups to help guide new users through various overlays or interactions that TikFinity powers - TTS is one of these integrations. Many streamers will choose to first connect to TikFinity with the on-screen tutorial, then return later to further customize the features to their heart's desire.
  3. Configure your settings. You should find a section dedicated to TTS. Here’s what you can customize:
    • Voice and Language: Choose from dozens of voices and languages. Find one that you and your viewers will enjoy listening to for a long time.
    • Volume, Pitch, and Speed: Adjust these to make the voice clearer and more distinct from your own.
    • Trigger Conditions: Do you want every comment read aloud? Or only comments from new subscribers? Or maybe comments that come with a specific gift? This is where you can filter the noise. For a start, reading all comments is a good way to see how it works.

Step 4: Bridge Your TTS Audio into Your OBS Stream

This is where everything comes together. TikFinity provides an audio source via a simple URL that we'll add directly to OBS, no need to overcomplicate the matter.

  1. Within the specific set of actions you're working on in your stream settings, you can copy the TikFinity Browser URL link for audio-only output. This is a crucial setting found in the Link section that gives you TTS audio, but cuts down on the resource-hogging performance hit that processing video can bring.
  2. In OBS Studio, find the "Sources" box (usually at the bottom) and click the '+' icon.
  3. Select Browser from the list.
  4. Give it a memorable name, like "TTS Audio," and click "OK."
  5. In the new window that appears, paste the TikFinity URL you just copied into the "URL" field.
  6. Set the Width to "300" and Height to "100".
  7. Finally, make sure you tick the check box for "Control audio via OBS" at the bottom of the set-up.
  8. Click "OK." You now have an invisible browser source in OBS that exists solely to pipe the TTS audio into your stream.

If you prefer an on-screen display of your TikTok comments in addition to just reading the TTS, you should create a separate text-and-image based OBS overlay following the TikFinity tutorial, then a second audio-only output with this process. Many advanced streamers prefer two separate sources so they have control over when to hide the on-screen display or mute the TTS system independent of one another.

Step 5: Test and Go Live With Confidence

Before broadcasting to your entire audience, give it a practice run.

  1. Back in OBS, click "Start Streaming." Your content is now being sent to TikTok.
  2. On your TikTok LIVE Center webpage, you should see a preview of what you're streaming from OBS. If it looks correct, click "Go LIVE."
  3. Have a friend join your livestream (or join on a different device yourself) and type a comment in the chat. In a few moments, you should hear the synthesized voice read it aloud through your headphones and broadcast it to your viewers!
  4. Adjust the audio levels in the OBS "Audio Mixer" to make sure the TTS voice is at a good volume compared to your microphone and any other sound in your stream.

Setting up text-to-speech for your TikTok livestreams is a powerful way to boost real-time interaction, and by pairing streaming software like OBS with a dedicated tool, you can create a more dynamic and professional experience for your audience.
