How to Embed a TikTok Video in Google Slides

Putting a TikTok video into your Google Slides presentation is a brilliant way to make your content more dynamic and relevant, but it's not as straightforward as embedding a YouTube video. This guide walks you through the best methods to get your favorite TikToks playing seamlessly in your slides. We’ll cover the most reliable options so you can choose the one that fits your presentation perfectly.

Why Add a TikTok to Your Google Slides?

Before jumping into the how-to, let's talk about the why. You're not just adding a video, you're adding a powerful piece of communication. Integrating a short-form video can transform a standard presentation into an engaging experience. Think about it:

  • Boosting Engagement: Let's be honest, presentations can sometimes feel a bit dry. A well-placed TikTok can break the monotony, grab your audience's attention, and add a dose of energy and humor.
  • Showcasing Social Proof: Are you a marketer presenting a campaign's success? Embedding user-generated content (UGC) from TikTok is undeniable proof that your brand is connecting with real people. It’s a modern testimonial.
  • Illustrating a Concept: Sometimes, a 15-second video explains a trend, a product, or a cultural moment better than a slide full of bullet points ever could. It’s a perfect tool for showing, not just telling.
  • Demonstrating Brand Personality: Including one of your own brand's TikToks is a fantastic way to convey your company's voice, culture, and creativity in a format that feels authentic and current.

In short, it’s about making your presentation more memorable and impactful. Now, let’s get that video into your slides.

The Main Challenge: No Direct "Embed TikTok" Button

If you've searched the Google Slides "Insert" menu, you've probably noticed that while YouTube and Google Drive are options, there’s no direct feature for TikTok. This is because Google Slides doesn't have an integration with TikTok's API (the programming interface that lets different apps talk to each other).

But don’t worry. This limitation just means we need a clever workaround. The methods below are tested, reliable, and cover every possible scenario, whether you need the video to play automatically with sound or just want a simple visual element.

Method 1: The Screen Recording Method (Most Reliable)

This is the gold-standard approach for embedding a TikTok. You create a video file from a screen recording, upload it to Google Drive, and then insert it into your slides. It gives you the most control and guarantees the video will play smoothly, even if the conference room Wi-Fi is spotty.

Step 1: Save the TikTok Video or Get the Link

First, pinpoint the TikTok video you want to use. The easiest way to get a clean copy of the video is often by using the in-app "Save Video" feature on your phone if the creator has enabled it. If not, or if you're working from a desktop, you can have the TikTok's link ready.

Step 2: Screen Record the TikTok Video

Next, you'll record the video playing on your screen. You want a clean recording without any extra interface elements or notifications popping up. Play the video in fullscreen mode before you start recording.

  • On a Mac: Press Command + Shift + 5 to open the screenshot and screen recording controls. Select the video area and hit "Record."
  • On a Windows PC: Use the built-in Xbox Game Bar. Press the Windows Key + G to open it, then click the record button. You might need to enable it first in your settings.
  • Using an Online Tool: Services like Loom or Kapwing offer free and easy-to-use screen recorders that work directly in your browser. Just start the recording, play the TikTok, and then stop the recording.

Let the video play all the way through, and then stop the recording. You'll now have an MP4 video file saved on your computer.

Step 3: Upload the Video to Your Google Drive

For Google Slides to access the video, it needs to be in your Google Drive. Open your Google Drive account, click the "+ New" button, select "File upload," and choose the screen-recorded video file you just created.

Give it a moment to upload and process. For the next step to work smoothly, make sure sharing settings for the video are set to "Anyone with the link can view." To do this, right-click the file in Drive, select "Share," and adjust the access settings.

Step 4: Insert the Video into Google Slides

Now, head back to your Google Slides presentation. This is the easy part.

  1. Click on the slide where you want the video to appear.
  2. Go to the top menu and click Insert >, Video.
  3. A dialog box will pop up. Select the "Google Drive" tab.
  4. You should see your recently uploaded TikTok recording at the top of the list. Select it and click the "Insert" button.

Your video will now appear on the slide! You can resize it and drag it to the perfect position.

Step 5: Customize Your Video Playback Options

Once the video is on your slide, click on it to reveal the "Format options" sidebar. Here you have total control over how it behaves:

  • Video playback: Choose to have it play "On click" (the default), "Automatically" when you advance to the slide, or "Manually." Autoplaying is great for creating a "wow" moment.
  • Start at / End at: You can trim the video directly within Slides. If your screen recording has a few extra seconds at the beginning or end, you can easily clean it up here.
  • Mute audio: If you only need the visuals and plan to talk over the video, you can mute it with a single click.

Pros and Cons of This Method

  • Pros: Extremely reliable, works offline once the presentation is loaded, full control over playback (autoplay, trim, mute), and maintains high video and audio quality.
  • Cons: Takes a few extra steps upfront. The video is static and won't show live engagement metrics like updated like or comment counts.

Method 2: The GIF Method (For Silent, Looping Visuals)

If you don't need sound and just want a short, looping visual to add some motion to your slide, converting the TikTok to a GIF is a fantastic option. This is perfect for illustrating a quick process or adding a background visual element.

Step 1: Get the TikTok Video URL

Find the TikTok you want to use and copy its URL. You can do this by clicking the "Share" button and selecting "Copy Link."

Step 2: Convert the TikTok to a GIF

There are many free online tools that can handle this for you. Head to a website like GIPHY's GIF Maker, Ezgif, or Kapwing's video converter.

Simply paste the TikTok URL into the converter. It will fetch the video and allow you to select which portion you want to turn into a GIF. Choose your start and end times, and then generate the GIF.

Step 3: Download and Insert the GIF into Google Slides

Once the GIF is ready, download the file to your computer. Then, return to your Google Slides presentation:

  1. Go to the slide where you want the GIF.
  2. Click Insert >, Image >, Upload from computer.
  3. Select the GIF file you just downloaded.

The GIF will appear on your slide and start looping automatically as soon as you enter presentation mode. You can resize and move it just like any other image.

Pros and Cons of This Method

  • Pros: Autoplays and loops automatically, very simple to insert, great for adding background motion or silent visuals.
  • Cons: No sound, video quality is often lower than the original, and file sizes can get large with longer, high-quality GIFs. Best for short clips.

Method 3: The Screenshot & Link Trick (The Quickest Fix)

This method doesn't technically embed the video, but it's the fastest way to link out to it directly from your slide. It's a great option if you'll be sharing your slides for people to review on their own, or if you don't mind momentarily leaving the presentation to show the video in a web browser.

Step 1: Take a Screenshot of the TikTok

Go to the TikTok video and pause it at a compelling frame. Take a screenshot of the video player. For the best effect, try to capture the play button icon in the middle, as this visually tells your audience, "click here to watch."

Step 2: Insert the Screenshot into Your Slide

Just like with a GIF, go to Insert >, Image >, Upload from computer and add the screenshot to your slide.

Step 3: Link the Image to the TikTok URL

This is the final touch that makes the magic happen.

  1. Click on the screenshot you just inserted to select it.
  2. Click the "Insert link" icon in the toolbar (it looks like a chain link), or press Ctrl+K / Cmd+K.
  3. Paste the TikTok video's URL into the link field and click "Apply."

Now, when you are in presentation mode, your cursor will turn into a hand when you hover over the image, and clicking it will open the TikTok video in a new browser tab.

Pros and Cons of This Method

  • Pros: Incredibly fast and easy to set up. Requires no file uploads or conversions.
  • Cons: Clicking the link takes you out of your presentation, it requires a live internet connection to work, and the video doesn't play directly within the slide.

Final Thoughts

While Google Slides doesn't offer a one-click way to embed a TikTok video, these workaround methods give you all the options you need. For the most professional and reliable result, the screen recording and Google Drive method is your best bet. For a quick visual flourish, a GIF works wonders. And for a quick link, the screenshot method gets the job done in seconds.
