How to Combine Two Pinterest Boards

By Spencer Lanoue
October 31, 2025

Wrestling with a cluttered Pinterest profile of look-alike boards? Combining two similar boards into one super-board is a brilliant way to tidy up, improve your SEO, and make your account much easier for followers to navigate. This guide will walk you through exactly why you should merge boards and the precise step-by-step instructions for getting it done efficiently.

Why Should You Combine Pinterest Boards?

Dedicating a few minutes to merging your boards isn't just about appearances, it’s a strategic move that pays off. When you declutter and combine, you create a more powerful, user-friendly, and discoverable Pinterest presence.

1. Streamline Your Profile & Improve User Experience

Imagine a follower landing on your profile and seeing boards for "Summer Style," "Summer Beach Outfits," and "Hot Weather Fashion." It's confusing. Which one should they follow? Where will new summer tops be pinned? When you merge these into one perfectly named board like "Summer Style & Outfit Inspiration," you eliminate confusion. A clean, organized profile is much more inviting. It helps users quickly understand what you're about and find exactly the content they're looking for, making them more likely to hit that "Follow" button and stick around.

2. Boost Your Pinterest SEO

Pinterest is, at its core, a visual search engine. Just like with Google, having one strong, authoritative page (or in this case, a board) is far better than having several fragmented, weaker ones. When you combine boards, you also combine their SEO power. A single board with more Pins and more follower engagement signals to the Pinterest algorithm that your content is high-quality and relevant. By concentrating your best pins and keywords onto one board, you increase its chances of ranking higher in user search results for those very keywords.

3. Reorganize Your Content Strategy

Brands and creators evolve, and your Pinterest strategy should evolve, too. What made sense two years ago might not align with your focus today. For example, maybe you started with generic boards like "Home Cooking" and "Easy Dinner Ideas," but now your entire brand centers on "Quick Gluten-Free Recipes." Combining those old boards allows you to phase out what's no longer relevant and build a stronger foundation around your current niche. It’s an essential part of content maintenance that keeps your profile fresh, focused, and aligned with your goals.

4. Drastically Simplify Your Curation Workflow

Managing fewer boards simply means less work. Instead of trying to remember which of your three "Living Room" boards is the right one for a new Pin, you have one clear destination. This simplifies your content planning, saves time, and reduces the mental load of managing your profile. With a streamlined set of boards, you can focus your energy on creating and curating high-quality Pins instead of getting lost in organizational gymnastics.

How to Combine Pinterest Boards: A Step-by-Step Guide

Now that you're ready to organize, let's get into the process. The best way to move a large number of Pins is on a desktop computer, as it has a "Select All" feature that makes the process much faster. We’ll cover both desktop and mobile methods below.

Before You Begin: A Quick Prep Checklist

A little preparation goes a long way. Before you start moving Pins, take these two simple steps to make the transition seamless.

  • Choose Your "Destination" Board: You'll be moving Pins from one board (the source) to another (the destination). The one you keep should ideally be the board that already has more followers, a better keyword-rich title, or is already set up as a Group Board. The other board (the source) will eventually be deleted.
  • Optimize Your "Destination" Board: Edit the board you're keeping. Give it a new title and description that encompasses the content from both boards. This is a great opportunity to do some keyword research and craft a great name and description that will help it get discovered. For example, if you're merging "Home Organization" and "Decluttering Tips," your new board could be "Home Organization & Decluttering Solutions." Make sure its category is set correctly, too.

Combining Boards on a Desktop (The Easiest Method)

The desktop interface is built for bulk actions, which makes combining boards a breeze.

  1. Open the Source Board: Log into Pinterest and navigate to your profile. Click to open the board you want to move the Pins from (the one you'll be emptying and deleting).
  2. Click the "Organize" Button: Above your grid of Pins, you'll see a few options. Click on the Organize button. This will change your cursor and allow you to start selecting Pins.
  3. Select Your Pins: Once in Organize mode, you can either click Pins individually or, for a much faster workflow, click the "Select All" button that appears at the top. This will select every Pin currently loaded on the screen. Please note: Pinterest's bulk-action tool often works with about 50 Pins at a time.
  4. Move the Pins: After selecting your pins, a small panel will appear at the bottom of the screen. Click the Move button. A pop-up window will then ask you to select the destination board for your Pins.
  5. Select Your Destination Board From the List: A list of your boards will appear. Find and select your destination board from the list. After you've made your selection, click the "Save" button to move the Pins to their new home.
  6. Repeat If Necessary: Since you can only move about 50 Pins at once, scroll down to load more Pins on your source board and repeat the "Select All," "Move," and "Save" process until the source board is completely empty. This usually only takes a few rounds, even for boards with hundreds of Pins.
  7. Delete the Old, Empty Board: Once you've confirmed all Pins have been moved, navigate back to your profile. Click the pencil icon next to the now-empty source board to edit it. In the menu that pops up, scroll down until you see the large, red Delete board button. Click it to confirm the deletion. Remember, this action is permanent and will also delete the board's followers, so make absolutely sure it's empty before this final step.

Combining Boards on the Mobile App (More Manual)

While possible, combining boards on the Pinterest mobile app can be more tedious because there is no "Select All" button. If you have hundreds of Pins to move, we highly recommend using a desktop. For smaller boards, the app works just fine.

  1. Open the Source Board: Open the Pinterest app and go to your profile. Tap on the board you intend to move Pins from.
  2. Tap "Organize": At the top of your screen, tap the Organize button (it often has a grid-like icon). This will switch you into selection mode.
  3. Manually Select Pins: This is the most time-consuming step. You have to tap each individual Pin you want to move. Select them one by one until you have chosen all the Pins you want to transfer.
  4. Choose 'Move' and Select a Board: Once you've selected a group of Pins, a menu will appear at the bottom of your screen. Tap on the 'Move' icon (often shown as an arrow or folder). Then, select the destination board from the list that appears.
  5. Delete the Empty Board: After you have moved all the Pins to the new board, go back to your profile. Find the now-empty board and tap the edit icon. From there, you will find the option to delete it permanently.

What to Do After You Combine Boards

Nice work! Your profile is already looking better. Now, take a few extra steps to maximize the impact of your newly merged board and create the best possible experience for your audience.

1. Organize a Board With Pin Sections

Your newly merged board might now contain hundreds of Pins covering multiple sub-topics. Use Pinterest's "Sections" feature to bring order to the chaos. For example, if you combined "Fall Decor" and "Winter Decor" into a new "Seasonal Decor" board, you could create a "Fall" section and a "Winter" section within that new board. This improves user navigation and helps you consolidate the board's SEO signals.

2. Pin a Fresh New Board Cover Image

Details matter! Consider creating a new, high-quality vertical Pin to use as a board cover that is branded and stylish. Select a Pin that perfectly represents the entire board's theme. This small touch will instantly elevate the visual appeal of your profile, making it look more coherent and professional.

3. Continuously Pin Fresh Content to Your New Consolidated Board

Pinterest loves activity. After merging your boards, show the algorithm how valuable and current your new consolidated board is by consistently pinning new content to it directly. Consistently adding new Pins signals to Pinterest that your board is active, which helps it gain momentum, reach a wider audience, and appear higher in users' home feeds and search results.

Final Thoughts

Combining your Pinterest boards is a simple but powerful strategy for decluttering your profile, creating a better experience for your followers, and sharpening your overall Pinterest SEO. By following the steps above, you can turn two decent boards into one outstanding resource that attracts more traffic and grows your audience.
