Wondering if your Facebook Page is in good standing with Meta? The Page Quality score is your direct answer, and checking it is easier than you think. This guide will show you exactly where to find your Page Quality status, what each rating means for your account, and the concrete steps to take if you find yourself with a violation.
Think of your Facebook Page Quality score as a health report for your Page. It’s not a measure of how good your content is or how high your engagement is. Instead, it’s a simple, color-coded system that tells you if your Page has violated any of Facebook's Community Standards or other policies.
It’s important not to confuse Page Quality with ad metrics like the "Quality Ranking" in Ads Manager. The Ad Quality Ranking is about how relevant your specific ad is to its target audience. Page Quality, on the other hand, governs your entire Page's ability to operate. A poor Page Quality rating can lead to serious consequences, including having your reach reduced, losing access to features like advertising, or even having your Page unpublished entirely.
Monitoring this score is fundamental to any social media strategy. It directly impacts your Page's visibility and functionality. A clean record means you can manage your community and run campaigns without a hitch. A problem here can shut you down overnight.
Facebook has made it pretty straightforward to find your Page Quality status, though the path can differ slightly depending on where you access it. The most common method today is through the Meta Business Suite.
Step 1: Go to your Meta Business Suite.
Log in to your Facebook account and navigate to the Meta Business Suite that manages your Page. You can usually access this from the left-hand menu on your Facebook home feed or by going directly to business.facebook.com.
Step 2: Access "All Tools."
In the left-hand navigation menu of the Business Suite, look for the hamburger icon (three horizontal lines) labeled "All Tools." Click on it to expand the full menu of options.
Step 3: Navigate to "Page Quality."
Scroll down the list of tools. Under the "Manage" section, you should see an option for "Page Quality." Click it.
You’ll be taken directly to the Page Quality dashboard. Here, you'll see an overview of your Page's status, any recent violations, and content that Meta has taken action on.
While most professional users are on the Business Suite, some still manage their Pages through the standard Facebook interface. If this is you, the steps are a bit different.
Step 1: Go to your Facebook Page.
Navigate to the Facebook Page you want to check.
Step 2: Go to the "Professional Dashboard" or "Settings."
On your Page's main view, look for the "Professional Dashboard" or a "Manage" button on the left sidebar. From there, look for Page management tools.
Step 3: Find "Page Quality" in the menu.
Within your Page's settings or management tools, you should find a "Page Quality" tab. Clicking this will show you the same information you'd find in the Business Suite.
*A quick note:* Meta's interface changes constantly. If these exact steps don’t match what you see, don't worry. The "Page Quality" tool will always be located within your primary Page settings or management dashboard.
Once you’re in the dashboard, you’ll see one of three colors. Here’s what each one means for your Page.
This is the goal. A green status means your page is in good standing and has no violations against Facebook’s Community Standards. All your features should be working as expected, and your content distribution isn’t being negatively impacted by penalties. Keep doing what you're doing!
A yellow status is a serious warning. It means Meta has flagged one or more pieces of your content for violating its policies. This could be for anything from posting "low-quality" content that resembles spam to more severe issues like sharing misinformation or hate speech.
When your Page is yellow, you may experience:
Pay immediate attention to a yellow status. Repeated violations will escalate the situation very quickly and push your Page into the red zone.
A red status is the most critical level. This means your Page either has repeated, egregious violations or a single very severe one. Depending on the issue, your Page might be unpublished immediately, or you'll lose access to most of its features. This is Facebook's final warning before permanent removal.
Common causes for a red status include intellectual property theft (like copyrighted video or music), sharing dangerous content, repeated hate speech, or content that incites violence. At this stage, your ability to operate the page is severely limited, and a successful appeal is your only path forward.
Finding a yellow or red mark on your Page Quality dashboard can be stressful, but don't panic. The key is to act quickly and methodically. Here's your action plan.
The dashboard won't just tell you there's a problem, it will tell you exactly what piece of content caused the issue and which specific policy it violated. Read this information carefully. Was it for spam? Misinformation? Intellectual property rights? Understanding the "why" is the first step to fixing the problem.
You have two choices after reviewing the violation:
When you appeal, you get a chance to make your case to a human reviewer. This is not the place to vent your frustration. To be effective, your appeal should be:
Once you submit your appeal, you have to wait. This can take anywhere from a day to several weeks. In the meantime, focus on prevention.
Regardless of the outcome of your appeal, use this as a learning experience. To protect your Page going forward:
Regularly checking your Facebook Page Quality is as important as tracking your engagement metrics. It’s a simple checkup that prevents small issues from growing into Page-threatening disasters. By understanding the rules, monitoring your status, and acting deliberately when issues arise, you can keep your Page healthy and focused on building your community.
